Aluku Records Returns To Its Roots

Aluku Records is hitting a major milestone – celebrating not only its 100th release but also a decade of independence as a record label. It’s a momentous occasion, and they’re marking it in style with the release of their official 4th edition South African compilation.

This compilation isn’t just any old album; it’s a testament to the incredible influence of South African House/Electronic music, not just within the walls of Aluku Records but across the entire dance music scene. What makes it so special? Well, it’s a melting pot of sounds, blending Gqom, Afro House/Tech, and some seriously innovative new sounds like ‘3 Step’ and ‘Core Tribe’ Tribal Gqom.

And who better to feature on such a groundbreaking compilation than some of South Africa’s finest musical talents? Think Distruction Boyz, Que, Goldmax, and DJ Lag – names that have graced the credits of major productions like Black Panther and The Lion King. With these heavyweights on board, you know the Gqom side of this compilation is going to be nothing short of phenomenal.

But it’s not just about the established stars; there’s plenty of room for rising talent too. Artists like Omagoqa, Dee Traits, Novaboy, and ZVRI are all bringing their unique flavors to the mix, alongside award-winning General C’Mamane. And let’s not forget about the boundary-pushers like Dlala Thukzin and Funky Qla, who are carving out new sonic territories with their innovative sounds.

This compilation isn’t just about celebrating the artists, though – it’s also a nod to the visionaries behind the scenes. Aluku Rebels has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of African Electronic music over the past decade, and this album is a testament to their dedication and foresight.

But none of this would be possible without the support of the fans, DJs, producers, media influencers, and everyone else who has helped Aluku Records along the way. It’s thanks to their tireless efforts that the label continues to push boundaries and pave the way for the future of electronic music.

So here’s to Aluku Records – a decade of musical excellence and innovation, and many more to come. And a special shoutout to the A&R team, the artists, and everyone else who played a part in making this compilation a reality. Here’s to the next 100 releases!
