After a brief hiatus, Sha Sha, affectionately known as the “First Lady of Amapiano,” has made a highly anticipated return to the music scene. Born Charmaine Mapimbiro, Sha Sha’s remarkable journey began in Zimbabwe, where she honed her craft as a young vocalist with the Blindfaith group in 2015. Encouraged by friends, she started performing at local music festivals, setting the stage for her rise to stardom.
Sha Sha’s latest offering, the 2022 album “I Am Alive”, features infectious Amapiano tracks like “Intando Yakhe” and “Themba Lami”, featuring Ami Faku. However, her debut EP, “Blossom”, showcases her versatility, blending autobiographical songs with standout collaborations like “Abondaba” featuring Samthing Soweto and fan favorite “Mutare.” Sha Sha describes “Blossom” as a labor of love, reflecting her growth and dedication to her craft.

Teaming up with renowned producer Kelvin Momo and Sykes, “Ndawana” is a heartfelt expression of finding deep love and solace. In this emotional track, Sha Sha pours her heart out, singing “Ndaedza kuwana, wana rudo rwakadzama, Mwari Baba vandi komborera” (“I’ve tried to find, find deep love. God Father, has blessed me”). She continues, “Ndawana, Ndawana, wangu asisandi rwadza. Ndaneta nekuchema ndaneta” (“I’ve found, I’ve found, mine who doesn’t hurt me. I’m tired of crying, I’m tired”), and “Moyo muti unomera paunoda. Usandirase ndonokuda” (“A heart is like a tree, it grows wherever it wants. Don’t lose me, I love you”). With “Ndawana,” Sha Sha reaffirms her connection to her heritage, weaving a narrative of love, vulnerability, and gratitude.
While Sha Sha never officially announced a break, her year-and-a-half hiatus left fans eagerly awaiting her return. With “Ndawana,” it’s clear that her creative spark remains intact. As the music world welcomes her back, anticipation builds for more captivating releases.
