Biography

Team Distant are the coming together of producer/percussionist Roy “Roy K” Kasale and DJ/producer Aaron “Riise” Motlhabani, for whom music is a rhythmic way of life and their afrohouse sound an expression of heartfelt emotions.  The internationally acclaimed award winning house music duo from Botswana stormed onto the scene in 2012 with a fresh approach to music production and performance.  With hit singles Omi Korota and Kave Ngoma cementing their reputation, and subsequent releases continuing to top the charts at home; the former quintet began to look further a field for new shores to conquer and share their intriguing fusion of energetic deejaying and tribal drumming.

They flexed their production muscles with monster jams Jaguar, Higher Voltage. and what had to be the most requested afro house track of 2018, dancefloor destroyer Apollo 23.  With its unrelenting synth refrain and driving live percussive elements, Team Distant’s signature sound landed on the world stage with a bang!

A catalogue of solid original productions, remixes and collaborations with the likes of Cee ElAssaad, Dr Moruti, T-Roy Broadcite, Mr Silk, Lizwi, Chrispin The Drummer, Portia Monique, Suraj, Afrikan Roots, Dr Malinga, Freddy Da Stupid, Djuma Soundsystem, and Aimo keep the duo in DJ crates across the globe, but it is the energetic and electrifying live performances that turn fans into Stans.  Their debut European performance in London saw the duo whip the unsuspecting crowd, at Brixton’s Prince Of Wales (POW), into a frenzy as the realisation of the sheer depth of their catalogue, and mesmerising stage antics hit home.
